After reading two 'No.1 Ladies Detective Agency' books in a row, and having this book by the same author to hand, I decided to try 'The Sunday Philosophy Club'.

There are striking parallels between Isabel Dalhousie and Mma Ramotswe. Both feel that they have a role to play determined by their respective business interests, (as propietor of the Detective Agency and the editor of The Review of Applied Ethics).

I was lucky enough to live in Edinburgh for five years and so I could visualise the locations mentioned in the book which was cosy.

My favourite character has to be Grace, the housekeeper. The others I couldn't warm to and there doesn't seem to be the heart of 'Ladies Detective' in this creation by McCall Smith.

On the whole it is an easy read. There are sprinkles of references to various philosophers and there were one or two words I need to look-up, but on the whole I sped through it.
